Mrs. Coffey began her early training with Carol Peyton, a former student of Roberta Boorse, founder of the Milwaukee Ballet Company. She continued her training with Stone Camryn in Chicago, at the University of Oklahoma, with Tibor Zana in Madison, and at UW-Milwaukee, and numerous guest artists.

Besides ballet, her training includes: jazz, tap, character, and musical comedy. She has performed in numerous musicals starting at the age of 13. She performed for the Whitefish Bay Players for about 10 years.

She is a former member of the Wisconsin Ballet Company and has taught at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts in Illinois, the Kohler Arts Center, schools in Racine and Kenosha, the Vel Phillips YWCA, and tap for the Whitefish Bay Community Center.

In 1976, Mrs. Coffey began teaching for Katherine Kersten, the School Director of the Milwaukee Ballet School. Mrs. Coffey has been on the MBS Faculty since 1981.
