Emily Bennett
Faculty

Emily Bennett is a native of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She began dancing at age 9. At 14, she began her formal training under Lynne Bolitho, director of the Marquette Center for Dance, Marquette, Michigan. There she had the opportunity to perform many classical lead roles in productions of Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and Sleeping Beauty. She also danced leading roles and contributed choreography for many original works created exclusively for the Marquette Center for Dance. At age 16, she was asked to do student teaching at the center and it became apparent that she possessed a natural ability to draw out the best in her students. Three years later, she was given her own classes. In 1999, she became the director of the ballet program at the Academy of Dance in Escanaba, Michigan for two years. In 2003, she moved with her husband to the Milwaukee area where she completed her formal training at the Milwaukee Ballet School while teaching at Encore Studio of Dance in South Milwaukee. In 2006, she was promoted to Director of Ballet Instruction at Encore Studio of Dance. While there she has directed several performances for the inpatient care unit of Columbia Hospital. She is currently majoring in Psychology with a minor in Fine Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha. Emily makes her home in Brookfield, Wisconsin with her husband and young son. “Dancing has always been my greatest passion. Every instructor that I have trained under has told me that they see a great teacher in me. I am excited to have the opportunity to further develop that aspect of myself alongside the accomplished faculty of the Milwaukee Ballet School.”
